Conquering your hair!

Everyone loves that sun kissed, beachy holiday hair so why not keep that look all year round?

Key element - TEXTURE!

When at the hairdressers don't be afraid to hammer home the look you want, unless you do you can't be upset that it's not what you wanted. If you're having trouble styling it yourself, tell them! They'll be sure to give you handy hints or offer products to help you on your way to getting it just how you want it.

The main thing you need to do though to get to grips with your hair is....

PLAY!!!

The only way you can work your hair to your advantage, and to know what it's going to do when you put it in certain styles is to experiment and mess around with it. You don't have to be going anywhere, in fact to begin with the safety of you bedroom will probably be best! But every day is a fashion show, and use every morning as an excuse to show off a new style. If it's one particular style you're after, do it every day, and you'll see it evolve every time you do and probably end up finding a new one along the way. If you find something that works for you and you like, keep it, there's nothing wrong with repetition if it works!

Play around with up and down, fringe or no fringe, middle/off/side or no parting... you'll soon see which ones suit your face best.

So... the beach look

the best thing about hair and make up is there's a tutorial around every corner!

It may take a while to curl your hair, especially if it's thick. If you have the time and patience to persevere with this then great, otherwise there are ways to cut corners...

For starters you don't necessarily need to curl the whole lot, you can do the top few layers and back comb the under layers a little to add the volume underneath.

Also, there are hundreds of ways to curl your hair without heat, and you just allow it to happen overnight!

Try the no heat curl headband...

When curling your hair, no matter what method you use, alway always ruffle it up and run your fingers through it at the end, and possibly backcomb the roots a little to add volume. You can never have it too big, it might look scary but as long you keep the front tidy and cute, the minute you go outside it will drop!

This one's a funny one, even if the girl is a little strange!
Again, if you flip your head upside down and ruffle it all up and perhaps pin your fringe on the side, job done!

This one works because her hair is layered from the nape of her neck... see how much of a difference it makes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L00-u6VqRfo

All the you need to do to find some more methods is prowl youtube searching loose curls, messy curls, beach curls or anything that comes to mind!

So... now we've got the hair curly, and found a way to get it every day with less hassle,  if you don't want to leave it down, what next?

The almighty plait...
No fuss, not perfect, just cute

Mix it up a bit with this one, when you split your hair into the three sections, take the middle one and loosely plait it before plaiting the whole thing, this will add texture and looks super cute especially with browns and blondes running through your hair.

Try a tidier one if that's what you're feeling...

Buns!

The messy bun is always a handy go-to, make sure you back comb the pony tail (which you shouldn't keep too tidy either!)

She's pinned the crown into cute messiness before sorting the bun!

So remember...

Play
Experiment
Do it every day!

Where I would take this look...

Just going to post a few outfit choices I think are really cute and would definitely suit a little blondie ;)

Pretty floral dresses with anything and everything... from tan bags to chiffon scarves to flip flops or high wedges.

Neutral colours are easy, diverse and always make an outfit simply pretty.

A denim jacket will take you everywhere!

Pretty in white and girly ruffles.

Experiment with scruffy up-dos to get that straight-from-the-beach look.

The denim jacket strikes again, it works with absolutely any colour! More white and a couple more frills but still a completely different outfit.

Wooden or chunky jewellery always finishes off the beach look.

Rework the base colour and your outfit is refreshed and brand new!

Go back to that oh-so-faithful denim jacket and white vest or camisole, but put them with a cute skirt and accessorise with a block base colour and your magic wand has worked again.

Finally...

Seeing a few old friends here again, the coral base colour suits virtually any skin colour but always brings out a great tan! The short pencil skirt changes the look from casually cute in the day, to ultra pretty at sundown.

Happy Birthday

A Present For My Friend Lauren...

This blog is going to be a side project for a little someone I know who's been creeping her way up the style ladder and has always appreciated a confidence boost and a gentle nudge in her preferred style direction.

The purpose of this blog is for her to ignore or follow as she pleases... it's probably easier to say fuck off to a website than it is to my face! Whenever she's stuck on a potential shopping trip, a night out, a day out, or just bored, a click of a button is all she needs to get her very own taylor made style page to find inspiration or simply just some pretty little things to say "I'd like that" to.

We've previously discussed her preferred look and being a cute little blonde thing that she is, with big blue eyes and a potential to tan the crap out of anyone else, it wasn't long before we realised that a surfy, preppy look would be just fabulous on her. Unlike me she spent her school years doing some work, while I spent it honing my wardrobe (which I then trashed and revised during my year in college and constantly rehashed during the 4 consecutive years I wasted at uni to get to where I am today) so I've always liked her to know my assistance was there should she want it - her make up is now incredible, I might add, having never really bothered with it before she now has eyes to kill!

As opposed to lengthy posts I shall simply use this blog to throw any images, outfits, and clothing items onto whenever I find them - more of a virtual scrap book - so at least someone else can benefit from the frightening amount of hours I spent trawling fashion pages all over the internet!

So hopefully none of this will come across patronising or condescending, and it'll just be a lot less intimidating than being dragged all over London by hardcore shoppers!!

Lots of love
Livi
